Old Grammar School House

Grammar School, now house, 1671 on sundial. Squared uncoursed limestone with
ironstone quoins. Stone tile roof with coped gables and kneelers. Stone
chimneys. L-plan. 2 storeys, attic and cellar, 7 bays. Doorway in second bay
from left with stone 4-centred arch and square hood with lozenge-shaped stops.
6-panel door. Similar doorway (blocked) in third bay from right. C20 three-
light stone mullioned and transomed windows in left bay ground and first floor.
Other windows are 2-light stone mullions, some renewed, with a continuous
hood on both floors. Stone sundial third bay from right on first floor. C17
gabled wing at rear is of one bay, and 2 storeys with 2-light stone mullioned
windows and square hoods. Interior: Moulded beams and stone square-headed
doorways. C17 stone hall fireplace with 4-centred arch and moulded
entablature.
