4/1 Lower Downs Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Mid/late C18, altered C19. Coursed squared ironstone, corrugated iron
roof replacing thatch, brick end stacks. 2-unit central-staircase plan. 2
storeys and attic; 3-window range. Central part-glazed plank door with wood
lintel. 3-light casement windows to ground and first floors left and right,
2-light casement above door, all with wood lintels. Quoins and stone-coped
gables with kneelers. Single-storey brick extension to left. Interior has
stop-chamfered spine beams and stop-chamfered joists. Open fireplace blocked by
cast-iron range of c.1900.
