GV II

Cottage. C17. Timber frame with brick panel infill and repair. Corrugated
iron roof over thatch. Originally 2 units and 1½ storeys, with C19 single
bay wing to front. Doorway, probably in the original position, in the angle
of the wing with rendered casement window and dormer above it, to the left.
Principal posts of the timber frame (probably originally 4 panels)survive in
part of front wall, and in rear wall where they are jowled, and there is some
archbracing. In the gable, sill, middle rail, and archbraced angle posts
support the A-frame roof truss with tie beam and collar. 2 other principal
trusses visible internally. Inglenook and chamfered lintel of original back
door inside. Axial stack.
