Large detached dwelling, now hotel, formerly in use by Local Authority. Mid C18
facade with late C19 main body. Ashlar with moulded parapet cornice returned and
stopped, welsh slate roof. Complex body rebuilt 1893 and 1901 after fire, on retained
fine classical facade. Three storeys, four windowed all sashes with glazing bars and
moulded stone architraves, bull-nose cills; first floor triangular or segmental
pediments; string course below first floor windows continuous with flat door hood on
stone consoles. Six panel door. Small one windowed extension in squared rubble, left
panel on back records: W & S.A. 1893 (William and Sarah Armitage).
