5/54 Nos 1 and 2 Preston Cottages

2 cottages. Probably late C18 - early C19. Plastered cob on stone rubble footings;
stone rubble stacks topped with C20 brick; thatch roof.
Plan: pair of contemporary 2-room plan cottages facing south-south-west, say south.
Each cottage is a mirror plan of the other, and has central entrance onto staircase.
The larger inner rooms are heated by an axial stack in the party wall serving back-
to-back fireplaces. The small outer rooms have projecting end stacks. No 1 is the
right cottage, No 2 is the left one. 2 storeys.
Exterior: each cottage has a symmetrical 2-window front of C20 casements without
glazing bars and central doorway containing. a C20 door behind a late C19 stone
rubble porch with slate monopitch roof and segmental outer arch made of brick.
Interiors not inspected.
