Large house. Probably late C17/early C18. Undated lead rainwater head has
raised initials G. & E.W. Limewashed rubble on plinth with quoins. Graduated
slate roofs with stone copings and kneelers. Double-pile plan with wings
projecting to front. 2 storeys, 5 bays (1:3:1). Main block has central
panelled door in segment-headed porch. 2-light window in C20 mullioned surround
to either side on each floor. Panelled door in corniced doorcase in gable end
of right-hand wing; 2-light window above, and similar window to each floor on
gable-end of left-hand wing, have original stone mullioned surrounds with fake
(incised) gauging to segmental lintels. All windows are square-leaded. Between
floors, on inner face of each wing, is a semicircular-headed stone panel with
incised paterae decoration. Ornate, octagonal wrought-iron lantern to outer
corner of left-hand wing. Dentilled eaves cornice with concealed gutter.
Stepped and corniced stone end chimneys.
