House now private nursing home. 1780 for James Graham incorporating a C17 core
and early C19 additions. Roughcast walls with V-jointed quoins, on chamfered
plinth; extension with pilasters. Hipped swept roof of graduated greenslate
with roughcast chimney stacks. 2-storey, 5-bay facade with left additional bay
under common roof; 2-storey, 5-bay garden facade; rear parallel range
2½ storeys, 6 bays with flanking projecting 3-bay and single-bay wings.
Entrance facade has panelled door and radial fanlight with continuous glazed
round-headed side lights, all within glazed pilastered porch. Over is a
pedimented Venetian window with flanking niches and oval panels. Sash windows
with glazing bars in painted stone surrounds. Left extension has similar
upper-floor window, but the ground-floor is covered by a C19 single-storey,
2-bay right-angled extension. Garden facade has C20 panelled doors and radial
fanlight within panelled reveal and pedimented Corinthian doorcase. Some sash
windows without glazing bars all in painted stone surrounds. Rear sash windows,
mostly with glazing bars, in painted stone surrounds.
