NY 42 NE DACRE SOULBY

16/72 Waterfoot Farmhouse
and barn adjoining

Farmhouse and barn. Dated and inscribed T & IL 1678 with C18 and C19
alterations. Whitewashed rubble walls, under graduated greenslate roof with
whitewashed stone chimney stacks, that to right C17 with projecting slate drip
stones. Barn of mixed slate and cobble rubble walls under graduated greenslate
roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays with lower right barn which is partly domestic.
Cross-passage doorway has C20 door in chamfered surround under Tudor lintel with
hoodmould. 3-light chamfered stone-mullioned window; all others sashes, some
double, in C19 painted stone surrounds. Blocked original fenestration
identified by individual hoodmoulds and continuous hoodmoulds on ground-floor.
An upper-floor right blocked firewindow is within the blocked C17 window. Barn
has large central plank doors and open gable end. Interior of barn has 2 pairs
of upper crucks.
