1855-57 by John Dobson of Newcastle. Red brick and stone, 2 storeys. Top cornice
on modillions, quoins, band, centre projecting with entrance with Tuscan pilasters,
arid 2 tripartite windows at each side with cornices. Above are 5 blank stone
panels instead of windows (the centre one carved with "museum and library" ),
Museum Street facade has simpler entrance in centre, and 5 windows and 8 panels
(3 bays are original, the rest added later in similar style). Interior has iron
staircase.

Nos 12, 9 to 21 (odd), the Museum and Art Gallery, No 10 Egypt Street, all the
listed buildings in Palmyra Square, Nos 3 to 13 (odd) Springfield Street and
Nos 13 and 15 Suez Street form a group.
