GV II*

Statue. C18, erected here c.1778 in memory of Mary Bowes. Attributed to
John Cheere. Lead figures on limestone pedestal raised on stone steps. A
lifesize standing robed female figure facing N with a small child in the
crook of her right arm. Standing child to her left, seated child looking
up. Tall square plinth with recessed angles, moulded base, necking and
cornice, and ovolo moulded fielded panel on each face. All raised on
circular base with 2 moulded stone steps.
