Bull)

GV II

House, formerly an inn. Early C16 and late C17 or C18. Painted
local brick with plastered timber frame. Steeply pitched slate
roof; rear stack and gable stack to north. Two storeys and
attics, early C16 rear wing one storey and attic forming L-plan
with stair turret in angle. East facade; band at first floor,
three first floor recessed casement windows, three ground floor
recessed casement windows in segmental brick arches including
one window blocking original cross passage entrance. Interior.
Large inglenook hearth with replacement mantel beam, exposed
early C16 wall frames with similar bracing details to the Old
Rectory High Street, Landbeach, and reused jetty joists. Main
range has stop-chamfered pine ceiling beams. No original
partitions to upper chambers.
