GV II

House, now house and shop. Early C19. Ham Hill stone ashlar,
slate roof with stepped stone coping and stone stack to left
gable end. Double-depth plan.
2 storeys; 3-window range. Windows to the right and
first-floor left are wide early C19 8/8-pane sashes; steps up
to Tuscan doorcase with open pediment which surrounds a
semicircular fanlight with intersecting glazing bars. The door
is early C19 with 6 panels, 3 long ones to the top and 3 short
ones to the base. Above this is a round-arch sash window of
4/8 panes with margin panes and intersecting glazing bars to
the top. There is a moulded cornice at gutter-level and a
platband between the floors.
The shop to left was probably inserted later in the C19; it is
set forward between the door and the left wall, which also has
been brought forward on the ground floor and sweeps up to the
house; shop door to left. INTERIOR not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: To right of the door are spearheaded
railings on a platform at doorstep level enclosing a small
forecourt. The property now includes part of the building
attached to the left, No.35 (qv).
