Detached house, now divided into 4 flats. Early C19, with C20
addition facing road. Solid rendered walls. Hipped slate roof.
Rendered chimneys; that on S side-wall has paired octagonal
shafts with panelled sides. Double-depth plan, with low
closet-wings at each end of the road-frontage.
2 storeys with single-storey closets. Garden front of 5-window
range, the end windows set in slightly projecting pavilions
with hipped roofs. Centre of ground storey has an Ionic order
of 4 columns with Doric end-piers supporting an entablature;
resembles a porch but is set directly against the wall-face.
Doorway in centre (now blocked). French window at either side.
Centre upper-storey window blind; sash-window at either side
with 4 over 9 panes plus margin-panes. Pavilion windows have
6-paned sashes, except that the upper second-storey sashes
have only 3 panes; the ground-storey windows have the outline
of fomrer straight hood-moulds. Deep boxed eaves cornices,
those over the pavilions with a greater projection and shaped
brackets.
Left (south) side wall has round-arched doorway with chamfered
surround and keystone; 4-panelled door, the top 2 panels now
glazed; patterned fanlight. Right side wall (visible from
Meadowville Road) has upper-storey canted bay window with
barred sashes and top cornice: 6 over 6 panes in centre, 4
over 4 panes at either side.
Rear elevation facing Northam Road has gabled closet-wings,
each having a round-arched window with 6-paned sashes; at
either side paired Doric pilasters supporting a plain
projection that must once have been an entablature. Gables
have plain bargeboards. Centre occupied by a large late C20
addition. INTERIOR not inspected.
