590-1/7/97 Shelter approximately 45 metres
south-east of County War Memorial

GV II

Shelter. 1905. Cast-iron and timber with felt-clad hipped
roof. Rectangular structure of 6 bays, the end bays projecting
to form central recess to each side and to each end Cast-iron
columns with enriched bases on high plinths and Ionic capitals
support roof with enriched openwork cast-iron fascia. Simple
benches in recesses. Cresting to north-east side with
cartouche with inscription recording the erection of the
shelter at the cost of the Mayor, Alderman Mottram.
