Description

HAREWOOD CP
SO 52 NW
3/48 Granary about 25 yards
south-south-west of
Grange Farmhouse

GV II

Granary. C18. Sandstone rubble with stone slate roof. Four structural
bays aligned north-north-east/south-south-west. Two storeys and lowered
attic. West elevation has three windows, the outer two of two lights, the
centre one with four panes, ground floor has segmentally headed opening to
left-hand side with ledged shutters and early C20 sliding door to right.
North gable has 2-light attic window, blocked 3-centred arch to ground floor
containing 2-light glazing-bar casement with sliding door to right. East
elevation has stone tallet stairs rising form north to ledged door on first
floor. Interior has oak dog-leg stair, collar trusses with angle struts
rising from second floor to principals and tied back to principals at wall-
plate level by horizontal members. The blocked arch of the north gable is
repeated in the east gable, perhaps suggesting that the bottom floor was
formerly used as a wainhouse. Included for group value.
