Pair of attached cottages. C18. Plastered timber frame, No 1 on
right has new render with pargetted panels. Thatched roof with
half-hipped ends. Brick axial and gable end stacks. Plan: Pair
of attached 2-room plan cottages. The centre rooms are heated
from back-to-back fireplaces in a central axial stack; the outer
rooms were unheated, but the right hand (No 1) now has an end
stack. Small later rear outshuts. Exterior: One storey and
attics. 3-window north front, probably originally symmetrical.
No 2 on left has plank door with small pentice board canopy and
4-pane window on right. No 1 has C20 2 and 3-light casements. 2
half dormers break eaves with C19 2-light casements. No 2 has
eyebrow thatch and No 1 has slate raking roof. No 2 also has C19
casements on east gable ends. 2 small lean-to outshuts at rear,
south with corrugated asbestos roofs. Interior: Both ground floor
rooms of No 1 have unchamfered axial beams and unchamfered
joists; exposed wall and partition framing, small brick fireplace
with segmental arch; winder stairs beside stack; roof ceiled but
rafters and wall plate exposed. Interior of No 2 not inspected.
