II of Village Hall)

Cottage, formerly two cottages. Dated 1622 incised on plaster plaque above
entrance, C19 alterations. Timber-framed and roughcast and plain plastered
with painted brick and corrugated iron repairs. Half hipped roof with
corrugated iron covering thatch. One storey and attic. Original three unit
plan later divided into two cottages. Two four-panelled doors, one wide hung
sash window with small panes to left hand of ground floor with two horizontal
sliding sash windows and one small fixed light; three gabled dormer windows
two with horizontal sliding sashes and one with casement window. Rebuilt red
brick ridge stack. Interior: Relined open hearth, early C19 corner cupboard
and staircase door, and boarded doors. Roof timbers of light scantling for
thatch. The cottage was formerly a taylor's shop and Post Office.
