15/227 The Angel Public House
GV II
Public house. C17 and C19. Regular coursed limestone with pantile and concrete
pantile roofs. Originally 2-unit plan. Single storey with attic 2-window range
at ground floor. Canted bay window with glazing bars, ashlar base and flat roof,
to left. Casement window with glazing bars, ashlar dressing and wood lintel, to
right. 2 gabled half dormers, to attic, have similar casements, under wood
lintels. Central C20 door, under wood lintel. Gable parapets with concrete
copings and brick stacks at ends. Left gable has evidence of earlier roof line
and blocked openings. Rear wing has C20 concrete pantile roof. Interior has open
fireplace with bressumer. The bressumer has a scratched date 1673, probably not
original. Included for group value.
