GV II

House, (now unoccupied) probably mid to late C17. Thin coursed rubble, ashlar
quoins, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. U-shaped to south. 3-room plan with
projecting cross-wings. Flush with eastern wing is 2 storey porch under
catslide roof with central hall range. All are double chamfered mullioned
windows. Western cross-wing has 5-light window with same over to 1st floor.
Right hand return wall has single light (blocked) to 1st floor. Hall range has
6-light window and 2-light fire-window to housebody and 5-light window to 1st
floor. Porch has quoined angle and Tudor arched lintel, composite jambs with
stop chamfered surround which forms spandrels, similar inner doorway (render may
cover date), 2-light window over to lst floor. Eastern wing has window altered
to 3 wide lights and 4-light window over to 1st floor (the only one to have
cavetto chamfered mullions). Left hand return wall (rendered) has 3-light
window over inserted doorway. Rear has 3 gables. Eastern wing is blind. Tudor
arched doorway to through passage has chamfered surround with broach stop. 2
parallel ranges break forward. That to rear of hall range has double chamfered
mullioned windows of 2 lights with 3-light window to gable. Set between gables
is projecting rainwater chute. West wing has 5-light double chamfered mullioned
windows to both floors, 4 stacks to ridge; one backs on to through passage.
