GV II

Farmhouse. Dated 1875. Local stone cut and squared, ashlar dressings; hipped Welsh slate roof; ashlar chimney stacks.
'L'-plan. 2 storeys, 3 bays on South elevation, of which bays 1 and 2 project. Plinth, ashlar quoins, heavy eaves
cornice penetrated by upper windows. Chamfered mullioned windows of 4-lights (5 lights to upper bay 2), those to ground
floor with transoms, with decorative cast iron casements in the style of a cottage orne; entrance to bay 2, up 6 steps;
door set in 4-centre moulded arch with sidelights and toplights under label, which is angled over the door; over first
floor window of this bay a false gable with ornate circular plaque with cross mostly and endorsed "TMD 1875" (This
could be Thomas Manning Dodington, died 1885; the family owned Horsington House, former manor; (qv) the 1877 new drive
to that house might be explained by the building of this farm): plain cellar windows; other elevations to match.
Interior not seen. Dignified Farmhouse of unsophisticated detailing, but part of a complete model (? stud) farm complex
