9/196 West and south boundary wall,
with gateway to Courtfield

Boundary wall and gateway. C18 and C19. Ham stone ashlar, moulded flat copings; wall averages 2 metres high, with
slight piers at intervals on Great Street elevation; along Church Lane the wall is lower; on the corner is the gateway
with square piers having moulded plinths, deep fluted friezes with rose ornament and moulded tops with steps and ball
finials; with later timber gates. The wall is an important visual element in the street scene, forming a prominently
visible corner, as well as adding to the setting of Courtfield (q,v),
