outbuilding adjoining cast

Farmhouse and attached outbuilding. Circa late C18 or early C19. Blue lias stone rubble. Clay pantile roof with stone coped gable ends. Axial and gable-end stacks with rebuilt brick shafts. PLAN: 3-room plan main range with entrance/stairhall between the centre and right-hand rooms, and with outshut at the back. Outbuilding attached to right [E] end by single-storey link.

EXTERIOR,: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window south front. C19 3-light casements with glazing bars, 2-light casements on ground floor left; flat stone arches. Doorway to right of centre, with cambered stone arch and panelled door. Poof at rear carried down as catslide over outshut. Single-storey range at right [E] end, the front built of monolithic stone slabs, linking house to outbuilding on cast end, with plank door and 2- light casement at front and external stone stairs to loft doorway breaking caves at rear.

INTERIOR, not inspected.

Included as a very good surviving example of a late C18 or early C19 farmhouse complex.
