the description shall be amended to read as follows:

Finger post, probably late C19. Cast iron structure with central post an 8-sided column on
a plinth with 2 bands about 2 ft above the base, a decorative finial and 4 sign boards, 2 arms
high and 2 arms lower, terminating in hands with extended index fingers. One high board
reads 'TO SHORTFIELD COMMON ½ MILE - BATTS CORNER 2½ MILES.' Other
high board reads 'TO TILFORD 2½ MILES - ELSTEAD 5½ - GODALMING 8½.' One
low board reads 'TO FRENSHAM POND 1¼ MILES - CHURT 2½ - HINDHEAD 7.'
Other low board reads 'TO FARNHAM 3 MILES'. A rare and decorative type of signpost.
This finger post is situated in the garden of Alison Cottage, The Reeds Road.
