24/06/83 Two Bound Stones at NGR SE 5923 5075

Two boundary stones. C18. Limestone. Both of rectangular plan
with rounded tops and set against a wall flanking the
pavement. The left-hand (north-western) stone is of magnesian
limestone and has no inscription. The right-hand stone is of
brown limestone and has a worn inscription, recorded as being
'The Boundary of Micklegate Stray'.
HISTORICAL NOTE: the boundary marked is that between
Micklegate Stray and ancient enclosures to the north,
coinciding with the former parish boundary between St Mary
Bishophill Junior (qv) and Holy Trinity Micklegate (qv).
