10/261 The Firs
19.4.61
GV II
Detached house. C17, possibly refronted C19. Ham stone ashlar facade, coursed rubble to sides and rear; west portion
has Welsh slate roof, east has plain clay tiles, possibly replacing thatch, with stepped coped gables to end and
centre; brick chimney stacks. Two storeys with attic, 5 bays. Bays 1 and 2 have 3-light horizontal-bar casement windows
under stone lintols with false triple keystones, straight joint to right; remaining bays have ovolo-mould mullioned
windows in chamfered recesses without labels, 3-light above and 4-light below, probably C19; to lower bay 4 a 6-panel
door with toplights set in deep reveal with stone architrave. In west gable are 3-light ovolo-mould mullioned windows
with labels to ground and first floors, and a blocked 2-light with label to attic - these appear to be C17. Interior
not seen.
