GV II*

House. Early C17, refronted early C18. Render over limestone
rubble, freestone quoins, plinth and dressings; stone slate
roof hipped to the left with 2 small hipped stone
slate-cheeked dormers and moulded ashlar stacks to rear left
and the right gable end. L-shaped plan with early C19
extension.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. Moulded eaves
cornice; raised cyma-moulded architraves to 6/6-pane sash
windows, those to the ground floor with cornices. Both inner
facades of the L shape look onto the street, 2 windows to left
face east and 3 windows to the right face north. To the
centre, at the angle of the left wing is 6-panel door with
raised and fielded panels glazed to the top and a classical
wreath and mask cast-iron knocker, set in raised cyma-moulded
architrave below a semicircular-coved hood, possibly a former
shell hood, on plain brackets.
INTERIOR: not accessible on review but noted as having a C17
blocked 3-light window with cavetto moulded mullions to the
ground floor of the south party wall; a good original open
well staircase with closed strings, moulded handrail, square
newels, and moulded balusters. Original kitchen fireplace with
moulded surround. Re-roofed with king-post collar trusses.
