Concert hall, now meeting room, cafe, and shops with
accommodation above. Dated 1850, and altered in the C20.
Attributed to Websters of Kendal. Stone rubble and painted
render with slate roof.
2 storeys. The main part of the facade is symmetrical, of 5
bays with a frieze decorated with laurel wreaths. The
ground-floor openings have plain painted surrounds. The
1st-floor windows are glazing-bar sashes with painted plain
surrounds which rise above a storey band and have aprons below
the window sills. The central bay is gabled in the form of a
pediment and flanked by pilasters, and has paired round-headed
lights. At the left 2 further bays project forwards under a
gable and have a rusticated ground floor. A similar wing at
the right-hand end has been rebuilt and is now of one bay.
