Two estate houses. Dated '1857 B' on plaque in north gable wall, built for
the Duke of Bedford possibly by S.S. Teulon. Hammer dressed limestone and
some red brick with freestone dressings. Plain tiled roofs. Ashlar end stack
to left hand with one shaft, and two ridge stacks with two and one shafts and
chamfered cornices. Two storeys, double pile plan with extensions. East
elevation: Chamfered plinth continuous around projecting gabled wing to right
hand and gabled porch to left hand. Panelled door shaped to two-centred
chamfered stone arch; chamfered stone architraves to cast iron casement
windows with latticed glazing bars, three ground floor three-light and one
two-light window and four similar first floor two-light windows. Side
entrance to No. 6. The houses are similar to two other groups of estate
cottages in Wansford.
