Pair of model estate cottages. c.1880 with C20 alterations. Blue, red and white
brick in contrasting bands with courses of ironstone laid herringbone-wise,
slate roof, brick ridge stack. 2-storey, 2-window range. Principal elevation to
street has 2-light casement windows throughout with blue brick sills, chamfered
blue brick jambs, chamfered timber lintels and blue brick hood moulds. Ironstone
plinth with chamfered blue brick top course. First floor string course of blue
stretcher has framing red stretcher alternating with nailhead insets; blue brick
quoins and moulded red brick eaves. Entrances to rear. Built by the Thornton
estate as model estate cottages. Included for group value.
