Includes: No.1 SAVILLE STREET.
Originally 2 shops with domestic accommodation above, now 3
shops and offices. Early C19 with later C19 and C20
sub-division and alteration. Pink and cream mottled brick in
English garden-wall bond, on stone plinth; cream brick quoins
and timber eaves cornice; slate roof, hipped to right, with
brick ridge stack towards left end of Saville Street range.
Yorkersgate front: 2 storeys, 3 windows. Paired pilaster and
cornice shopfronts with C20 doors and glazing. First-floor
windows are single-pane sashes beneath flat arches of gauged
brick, over continuous sillband. Moulded eaves cornice.
Scrolled iron corner bracket to hipped roof.
Saville Street front: 2 storeys, 5 windows. Central 4-panelled
door with overlight in pilastered doorcase with cornice hood
on heavy brackets. Passage doorway at right end has 4-panel
door with blocked overlight beneath flat arch of gauged brick.
Between doors, pilastered shopfront with cornice on grooved,
gabletted consoles, and folding blind: glazed door recessed to
right of plate-glass shop window with checkered glass top
panels, over tiled riser, and with colonnette glazing bar. To
left of central door is an altered window with flat arch, and
at left end a pilaster and cornice plate glass shop window.
First-floor windows are 4-pane sashes, except for the left end
one, which is single-pane, and the right end one, which is
blocked. Other details repeat those on Yorkersgate front.
