building to east)
Former coaching inn and stables, now hotel and outbuilding. Late C18. Coursed
rubble limestone with gritstone dressings, quoins, plain gables, intermediate and
end ridge stacks, plain and concrete tile roof coverings. Hotel part two storeys,
four bays, with Venetian windows within painted flush surrounds and with casement
frames with glazing bars. Ground floor semi-circular lights have 'V' shaped
glazing pattern, Central doorway with moulded surround and entablature and C20 door.
Outbuilding: of two buildings, the two bays to the east of the hotel linking
it to a later addition of three bays, with a full height carriage entrance with
quoined surround and segmental arched head, now blocked with C20 timber doors,
with glazed lights above. Flanking this opening are rectangular openings with
plain stone frames and quoined doorways, each with a plain planked door,
incorporating a louvred upper section.
