Mansion block of flats. 1897-99 by Charles J.C. Pawley. Red brick with
plenty of stone and terracotta dressings, slate roof. Eclectic Renaissance
features. 8 storeys. 9 windows wide; central courtyard. 2 storey
carriage archway to courtyard occupies centre 3 bays, flanked by pilasters
supporting segmental pediment. The centrepiece is emphasised above the
archway by a loggia on each floor composed of 3 semicircular arched
openings with terracotta balustrade between. The flanking bays are also
composed as loggias with segmental arched openings flanking semicircular
arched recess; casement windows. Segmental pediment over 5th floor of
centrepiece. Terracotta friezes above the ground, 1st and 2nd floors.
Ornamental iron balconies to 5th floor. Crowning cornice and parapet.
