GV II

Gateway. Circa 1840-50. Granite ashlar The gate posts flanking the drive to
Furlong (q.v) are square in section with plain projecting plinths and cornices and
low pyramid caps. Either side walls in the same style extend a short distance to
similar terminal piers and bow slightly forward. Between the right terminal pier
and the corner of the Sandy Park Inn (q.v) is a ellipitical original wrought-iron
gate.
This gateway and another to Furlong Mill are associated with the mid C19 rebuilding
of Furlong (q.v).
