Pair of houses. c.1830, extended at rear. Timber framed, stuccoed to front
wall, and exposed framing to rear and end walls. Low pitch slate roof and
grey brick end stack. Single range plan. Two storeys. Unaltered front
elevations. Each house has a symmetrical facade of three flush frame, twelve
pane hung sashes in open boxing. Central doorway to each with moulded
architrave, narrow hood on cut brackets and six panelled door. Rectangular
fanlight with swagged glazing bars. Each doorway is flanked by a tripartite
hung sash and a twelve pane hung sash similar to those at first floor. In
1842 the houses were owned by William French, and occupied by George Jackson,
corn factor and James Mumford.
