SX 79 SW DREWSTEIGNTON DREWSTEIGNTON

GV II

House. Circa 1840. Plastered stone rubble, maybe with brick dressings; stone
stacks with plastered brick chimneyshafts and some original chimneypots; slate roof.
Plan: 2-room plan house built along the street facing north and with central
entrance hall and staircase. The right room has a gable-end stack and the left room
has an axial stack backing onto the stair. Service outshot to rear and main house
is 2 storeys.
Exterior: not quite symmetrical 2-window front of original 16-pane sashes under low
segmental arches. They are arranged about a central doorway which contains a 6-
panel door behind a late C19 gabled and slate-roofed porch with shaped bargeboards.
Roof is gable-ended to right and to left runs continuous with the roof of Hillside
House (q.v).
Interior: contains a great deal of C19 joinery detail Broadmeadow is one of an
attractive group of listed buildings in the village.
