- south aisle of Church of St Paul
GV II
7 headstones. 6 of them C18, one to the Davy family circa 1860. Granite or elvan
monoliths, round or square headed.
The 3 on the left (south) have inscriptions within shields.
Left stone : RD, died 1338 aged 73 and RP, died 1767 aged 25.
Second from left : WD, died 1754 aged 44.
Third from left : JOAN THE WIFE OF -D and CD died 1769 aged 29.
Fourth and fifth from-left are indecipherable.
Sixth from left : H DAW died 1748 aged 38 and HD.
The right hand stone is elvan and inscribed to : R Davey, G Davey and Catherine Davy
died 1860 aged 79. All related to Sir Humphrey Davy, the inventor of the miners'
safety lamp.
