War memorial, 1922 by Jas. Taggart, sculptor (Aberdeen). Red granite.
Celtic cross and shaft on plain tapered pedestal with rockfaced, rusticated
and stepped plinth. East face of cross and shaft carved with Celtic
interlace and medallion ornament in plain border. Inscription, with applied
metal lettering, on east face of pedestal:

"IN MEMORY OF THE OLD BOYS OF THIS SCHOOL
WHO DIED SERVING THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918
MEN WORTHY OF ALL THEY LEARNED HERE
AND AN EXAMPLE TO THOSE WHO COME AFTER THEM".
The names of the fallen are listed below. Name of sculptor similarly
inscribed on north side of plinth. Originally erected at the former Sir
William Turner's Grammar School, Coatham Road, Redcar. Moved here 1975.
