TL 66 SE CHEVELEY CHEVELEY PARK

3/59 Isinglass Cottage
and Stable

GV II


Grooms cottage with stable to rear. Built in 1895 for
H. McCalmont. Red gauged brick, plain tile roofs. Cottage
facade. Central shaped gable with canted bay window. Main
entrance to left hand with half glazed panelled door and
verandah; hipped wing to right hand. Rear stack with three tall
shafts. Stable facade to yard. Shaped parapet gables with
round window, sixteen-paned hung sash window to left hand of
stable door with over light. Ogee headed ventilation louvre on
ridge. Limestone plaque commemorating Isinglass' achievements
in racing from 1892-95. The stable was specially built for the
race horse.
