6/22 The Old School House, Appley Cross

House. Early C17 altered mid C19. Render over rubble masonry, partly lined as
ashlar, triple Romans, crested ridge, brick stack to East. L-plan, open hall
derrivative. 2 storeys, main part has pointed arch entrance left of centre,
double transomed stair window to left (oriel), 2 ranges to right of C19 3-light
casements. Projecting wing to South on 2 levels, roofed independently, one
2-light casement. Interior: 2 pairs jointed cruck trusses, one altered. Open
hall, now staircase, ground floor room chamfered beams with treble ridge and
diamond stops, evidence of winder stairs to right of open fireplace. House
masked from the road by mid C19 school room, not included.
