6/33 Force Mill House

House belonging to the nearby mill. Early C18 with early C19 alterations and
additions. Whitewashed roughcast walls, under sandstone slate roof with
sandstone rubble chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 2 bays with left projecting lean-to
wash-house and rear 2-storey, single-bay extension. Off-centre C19 panelled
door in C19 chamfered stone surround. C19 chamfered stone-mullioned window and
enlarged fire window; upper-floor sash windows, in smaller chamfered surrounds,
look C18. Small left window in plain opening. Wash-house has front plank door
in plain opening. Extension has side plank door and round-arched fixed casement
window with glazing bars, under sash window with glazing bars, all in red
sandstone surrounds, the ground-floor window with shutter hinge brackets.
Interior has beamed ceiling and small C18 fireside cupboard. Plank doors with
C18 hinges.
