SU 42 NE COMPTON COMPTON STREET

GV II*

Cottage. C17 extended C18 and restored c1910 by G H Kitchin in Arts &
Crafts style. Timber-frame with brick infill and additions, roof thatched.
2 storey, 2 bay early C18 front, with 2 bays of C17 cottage to rear at left,
and set back to right. C20 bay in reused timber and brick, and single
storey bay added to left. Front has door to left of centre with settle
immediately right of it, both under gabled pantile-roofed open porch
supported on reused timber columns. To right cross window, to left canted
flat-roofed bay, both with leaded lights. Above 2 2-light casements.
Roof hipped with ridge piece and stack to right and behind ridge on older
wing. To left, bay with low brick wall and continuous glazing, flat roof
with balusters. To right, bay of recessed porch with heavy timbers
supporting room over. Under C17 reused door. Interior as restored.
