Memorial cross. 1874. Ashlar. Celtic cross on high rusticated pedestal,
surrounded at foot by large boulders roughly grouped in shape of a hand.
Inscription on cross records the burial on site of the right hand of Edith, 10th
Countess of Loudon. It is said that, by burying her right hand here, in a position
overlooking most of the park, the Countess wished to influence the control
of the estate after her death, and protect it from the squandering lifestyle of
her brother.
