GV II

Grand piano on raised plinth with kerbing. c1918. Marble.
Sculptured grand piano, formerly with open lid and portrait
relief on the music stand, both now missing. Kerbing with dies
having pyramidal caps. HISTORICAL NOTE: Harry Thornton was a
concert pianist who, with his wife, entertained the troops
during the First World War; he died during the 1918 flu
epidemic.
