Shop with flats over. c1813 with later alterations. Probably
by Henry Hakewill. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco
front and side facades and Welsh slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Full height
pilasters with fielded panels to angles. First floor: partly
concealed band. Central tripartite window has 6/9 sash with
5-pane side-lights within surround of fielded pilasters,
frieze and pediment, sill with feet; between blind windows.
Second floor, central blind opening between 6/6 sashes.
Stepped frieze and cornice. Third floor, blind window to
centre between 3/6 sashes. All windows in plain reveals and
with sills. Frieze, cornice. Ground floor, 3 plate-glass
windows with pilaster strips with fielded panels. Entrances to
left return: steps to glazed doors. Left return has similar
pilaster strips to angles. First floor has blind opening to
centre between unequally-hung 5-pane sashes. Cornice. Second
floor has central blind opening between 6/6 sashes. Stepped
frieze, cornice. Third floor has blind opening to centre
between 3/6 sashes with continuous sill band, otherwise all
windows with sills and in plain reveals. Frieze, cornice.
Ground floor has plate-glass windows.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: originally the Leamington Club, from
1838-1857 it was occupied by the Leamington and Warwickshire
Bank. Bath Street was a main street of the C18 village of
Leamington.
