Description

WELLS

ST5446 COLLEGE ROAD
662-1/6/74 (East side)
Boundary walls between Cedars
Cottage and De Salis House and
Cottage

GV II

Boundary wall. Probably C18, possibly some earlier fabric.
Rubble, some concrete copings. The walls form in part the
outer enclosure to out-buildings being part of the Cathedral
School premises. From the left-hand end a wall approx 2.5m
high adjoins the quadrant to Cedars Cottage (qv), and
continues right, rising to approx 3m at the eaves to the
hipped end of an outbuilding, dropping to approx 2.5m at the
eaves of a further out-building at the entrance to De Salis
House and Cottage, The Liberty (qv). An opening with a pair of
iron gates lies between the two parts. The total run of wall
with opening is approx 50m. These walls form an important
enclosure to the street, immediately opposite the E end of The
Cedars (qv), and are a significant element of continuity
between the properties at either end.
