Description

Mid 19th century. Single storey ornamental lodge with bow ended feature. Rubble-built with polished raised red sandstone margins, long single storey modenr harled addition to rear. 3-bay entrance elevation with bi and tripartite windows flanking door with fanlight. 4-light to bowed end. Casement windows with timber moulded mullions end transoms, top hopper opening, plate glass glazing. Deeply overhanging eaves form verandah supported on chamfered timber posts. Graded slate roofs to front elevation, blue Welsh to remainder, central stack with coped diagonal cans. Modern single storey harled additions to N with long W elevation; single light sash and case windows.

Statement of Interest

b group with Galloway House. Similar in style to High Enrick Lodge, Girthon Parish, Stewartry, built to serve Cally House. Further lodges to Galloway House (High Lodge, Cruggleton Lodge, Wigtown Lodge and Garlieston Lodge) are listed separately. The gates to Whithorn Lodge have been reinstated (modern infill).
