Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey basement and attic 3-bay classical house. Cream ashlar sandstone, rusticated at ground floor, droved at basement and 1st floor. Base course; band course above rustication; cill course to 1st floor; cornice and blocking course. Steps to segmental-headed doorway to right with panelled door and doorcase; plate glass fanlight. Broad tripartite timber box-dormer with pilasters, cornice and central pediment.

Modern single-storey bay to right.

Timber sash and case plate glass windows. Grey slates; coped ashlar stacks. Ashlar coped skews.

WALLS, RAILINGS AND SHELTER: low stone wall to front with canted ashlar coping; arrowhead cast-iron railings. Lean-to shelter to right with slate roof and cast-iron columns.

Statement of Interest

Originally intended to be part of terrace. The setting for 46 Ferry Road was left incomplete, a fate which similarly befell 68 Madeira Streat. The building extends on the ground floor into the adjacent modern building the shelter is a modern addition.
