Description

Style of Thomson and Turnbull, circa 1880. 3-storey and
attic "Thomsonesque" tenement with massive curved W
front to gushet, repertoire of details culled from
Alexander Thomson but composition lacks his quality.
Stone-cleaned light-coloured ashlar, channelled at
ground with central doorcase, corniced 1st floor windows
linked by stepped moulding, anthemia set in panels
between 2nd floor windows, pedimented stone dormers
set above deep parapet and also with anthemia; axial
stacks; slate roofs; ranges either side without attics
and built of darker stone.
