Description

T G Abercrombie, architect, dated 1912. Simplified Italianate

factory. Red brick with white brick bands and patterns.

3-storey 16 bay angled west elevation. 3 north bays treated symmetrically. Wide central bay recessed under segmentally-

headed arch flanked by recesses flat headed bays. Outer

piers corbelled out at ground floor and machicolated near

top to resemble turrets, with windows to 1st and 2nd floors.

Altered ground floor openings with door to left bay. Altered

1st floor glazing; 2nd floor retains cast iron small panes.

Stepped parapet raised to gablet over carved datestone.

Remaining 13 bays treated similarly, 12 wide and segmentally

headed and 1 narrow flat headed end bay. Gabled 2-bay

rear elevation similarly treated. Corner turrets blind.
