Description

Mid 18th century. 2-storey and dormerless attic, symmetrical 5-bay house with later rear wings. Harled, painted ashlar margins. Centre door, flush-panelled and part-glazed, to Low Street frontage and entrance to no 15 (upper floor flat) on N return gable. Paired lst floor windows (parlour) and pair diminutive attic lights in N gable. 2-storey and single storey wings project at rear. 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. Coped end stacks; slate roofs.

INTERIOR: 1st floor parlour lit by paired N gable windows and single front window. Raised and fielded panelling throughout, with shaped panel above hearth, wall cupboard and 6-panel doors with moulded door-jambs. Simple plaster cornice. No original chimneypiece survives.

Statement of Interest

1st floor parlour overlooks street and northwards to harbour, enabling the occupant to watch out for sea traffic. Unusual survival of original parlour panelling and fittings.
